Description
Shiny was established in 2012, as a small scale operation, brewing in Derby mainly for its brew pub. Now based in the beautiful village of Little Eaton, just outside of Derby. The brewery is based in the centre of the village and has a taproom which features all Shiny’s new beers and one off pilots. Our beer story began with untraditional highly hopped cask beer and now has evolved into brewing a range of cask, keg and cans, the ethos is still the same brew beers we love to drink which means lots of hops! All beers are unfined and a good number of our core range is certified Gluten Free.

Cask at Wellington, Brum. Aroma is pulpy and fruity. A dishwater off gils. Thin frothy white head. Sweet and sugary froot. Slightly resinous follow-up. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Soft carbonation. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. Don't just judge a beer on its looks. Decent stuff.

Can picked up from Shiny brewery and consumed at home Friday 10th January 2025 after a short Winterwanderweg at Rusel (local nr Deggendorf) listening to Huw Stephens on 6Music, we're cooking a Curry Guy 'Chicken Methi' later *we changed our mind and took a couple of small already cooked curries out of the freezer instead, Chicken Dhansak and Lamb Keema Pau. Pours almost black with yet another fast disappearing off white head. Chocolate and raspberry in tandem on the nose and in the mouth, fruity and the barrel ageing is working ok. I really wasn't a fan at first but I'm slowly beginning to appreciate it. Doesn't taste 11.8%

A third measure at Baum in Rochdale. Hazy with fruit not reaching the heights of some citrus a tropical brews but flavoursome all the same

Cask at Cherry Reds, Birmingham. Pours a hazy gold with white head. Quite juicy for a cask beer with citrus and peach notes. Had a nice balance to it. Enjoyable.

Cask at Cherry Reds, Birmingham. Pours a hazy caramel gold dishwater colour with consistent small white head. This one was citrusy, some earthiness, malts and dry hopped citrus bitterness to end it. Smooth. Its decent.

Listening to Emily Pilbeam on 6Music. Pours hazy yellow with a large white head, refreshing and a little bit of lemon sherbert in the mouth, juicy and smooth. Good.

Can picked up from Shiny brewery when visiting dad a couple of weeks ago. Had this Monday 23rd December 2024 listening to Deadletter - Hysterical Strength and thinking of having the Celeriac Mac that we didn't eat last night. Pours hazy warm gold with a large white head, huge hippy burps with this one, it's a very happy beer. Like Loz says the one issue with NEIPAS they all taste so similar after a while, but this is good. A little more tartness with this one but rest assured there is a big sweetness also, more citrus led but tropical also, good.

Can picked up from Shiny Brewery Tap and consumed Monday 23rd December 2024 listening to Gurriers - Come & See and thinking of having the Celeriac Mac that we didn't eat last night. Pours hazy warm gold/orange with a large white head. Pineapple cubes and other as yet undetermined tropical flavours. There is a creamy soft mouthfeel, not picking up the gooseberry tropical notes as indicated on the can, however it's very nice. Drinks easy for an 8.0% beer.
