Cask at the St. Albans Beer Festival 2013. Poured a clear, bright amber colour with a thin, scummy white head and nice lacing. Unusual aroma of hay, cinnamon and redcurrent. Fruity, raspberry flavour with caramel and grassy hops. Finishes with straw, hop resin and maple syrup sweetness. Interesting and tasty bitter.

Cask at the St Albans beer festival 2013. Dark caramel red colour with loose grey head. Aroma us earthy berry with a touch of roast. Flavour is hedgerow berry toast and roast. Light palate. Bitterness lingers.

Bottle at home. It pours clear mahogany brown with a small beige head. The nose is caramel, wood, dark fruit, berry and spice. The taste is wood, earth, musty, caramel, toffee, tangy red berry, some acidity, spice and toast with a dry finish. Light-medium body and moderate carbonation. Quite tangy and musty. Not too bad I suppose, but I wouldn’t rush back for another....

Bottle at home in London - picked up at City Beverage Company. Pours clear ruby with a quickly fading head. Dry berry nose, some wet carpet, leaves. Light sweet flavor, some lightly toasty bread, dry and musty berries, wet carpet light mold, some crunchy leaves. Light bodied with fine, fizzy carbonation. Mild dryness to finish, faint tang, bready malts, dry bread, leafy bitterness, a bit more carpet. Not good.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; clear dark brown pour with a copper tinge, beige head, fruit and malt aroma, quite woody earthy taste, malty biscuit, dried fruit, good level of bitterness, nicely carbonated.

33cl bottle thanks to unstablefable. Pours amber with not much head. The nose is very faint with a very slight hint of toffee. The taste has treacle, with none of the biscuits that I usually look for in a nice bitter. The palate has a light to medium body with a similar texture but the finish is too cloying. Not great.
