Bottle from Taps Beer Bar, Chamgkat, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a clear straw colour with a thin broken white head. The aroma is grassy hop, light pine needle, light citrus. The flavour is moderate bitter with a light crisp woody hop, light dry yeast palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Refreshing but the hop combination didn’t really work for me.

Bottle at Taps Beer Bar, Changkat, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a clear copper colour with a long-lasting frothy white head. The aroma is yeast, grassy citrus hop. The flavour is moderate bitter with a light crisp refreshing fruity, hop bitter, light pine needle palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Served too cold but the flavour came though as it warmed up.

Bottle. Black with a disappearing tan head. 8C. 4C is the recommended temperature, which as an omen is between an eagle and a vulture carrying puppy entrails. Aroma of mocha - mainly dark chocolate - roasty, earthy, some licorice. Some berries. Reminds me of Sinha stout a bit. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Silky. Not all that sweet with bread, mocha, vanilla, licorice. Finish is fairly dry and is both bitter and roasty. Good, maybe lacks a rumbling bottom end for something that’s 10%.

From bottle (McCoppins Fitzroy). Boozy nose with caramel. Ink black on pour. Almost sticky mouthfeel (befitting the style). Relatively restrained for its abv. Hints of licorice and raisins. Will cellar a couple to see how it develops.

Draught @ the Local, St. KIlda. Slight haze and light tan. Yeasty nose with light coriander. Yeasty aroma and a slightly doughy malt character. Not all that clean, but ok saison with light bitterness.

From bottle. Lacking big aromatics. A few barnyard notes only. Has requisite fizz, but it feels slightly manufactured rather than natural. Underwhelming.

(Bottle) Black, but if held to light, deep ruby, with small tan head. Aroma of caramel, nuts and hints of dried fruit. Lovely palate - medium body with excellent smooth mouth-filling carbonation. Taste starts quite thin and refreshing but rapidly develops complexity and richness. There’s a nuttiness throughout, with notes of bitter coffee, toffee, burnt sugar and some raisin fruitiness. The finish has a coffee, burnt bitterness. Very drinkable.

There’s a slightly dusty aroma followed by loads of orange peel, grapefruit, honey, melon and lychee. The tropical flavors are prominent in the mouth, along with tart citrus. Unfortunately the lack of malt means it all dissipates a bit quickly and there’s a slightly off aftertaste i don’t like.
