Description
Founded by local home brewers in 2009, Straight to Ale has quickly grown to become one of Alabama’s largest production breweries.
In the summer of 2016 we opened our new 55,000 square foot facility at Campus 805, reclaiming a long vacant Middle School campus on the edge of downtown Huntsville and turning it into a thriving community of breweries, bars, restaurants, and local shops. At this new location, we expanded to include cider and mead production along with distilled spirits (Shelta Cavern Spirits), a scratch made kitchen (Ale’s Kitchen), a pinball arcade and pool room (Ronnie Rayguns).

Can. Pours a cloudy copper with a small beige head that lasts. The aroma is strong floral hop and pine. Medium mouth with nice hop bite, grapefruit, and lingering bitterness. Very nice.

Bomber shared by my friend Scott. Thanks! Pours a dark brown-red with a thin creamy tan head. Fair head retention. Aroma of strong booze, cognac, toffee, dark fruit. The taste is toffee, dark fruits and strong cognac. Medium bodied, low carbonation, hot. Could use some age.

Bottle at jackl’s tasting courtesy of someone, thanks! I was gonna credit some dude, but we had one young lady at the tasting, it could’ve been her. Nice vanilla floral aroma with light booze and chocolate. Taste is slightly boozy burnt espresso. Nice.

Bottle - Barrel vinous notes and malty notes. Deep ruby and beige head. Boozy woody notes and some sweet raisin malts. A bit too boozy.

22 oz. bottle, pours a deep dark mahogany with a small tan head. Nose is rich and complex, with loads of brown sugar, green beans, raisins and complex cognac. Flavour matches accordingly, with complex cognac, loads of brown sugar, and raisins. Wow - this is sure complex. The alcohol is well-situated and the cognac barrels add immense elegance. A wonderful sipper.

Can. Cloudy amber body. Fizzy white head, mostly lasting. Aroma of toasted grain, pine, resin. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and moderately bitter. Medium to full body, velvety texture, lively carbonation. Big caramel malts in the taste. Thicker body than usual for an ipa.

Draft - Dark malts, caramel and light bourbon notes. Very dark brown with a light brown head. Dark toasted malts, booze, light yeasty sweetness and a long fruity ester finish. Vanilla and dark fruit are there, but the sweet booze is a put off for me.
