(Bottle 33 cl) Clear golden with a dense, white head. Sweetish aroma of malt and brewing cereal. Medium body, some sweetish brewing cereal and cardboard notes. No bitterness. Rather poor. 070208

(Bottle 33 cl) Clear, golden with a dense, white head leaving some laces. Classic and lovely Steinlager aroma from the hops. Medium body with a very soft mouthfeel. Sweet notes of malt, brewing cereal and then....nothing. Absolutely nothing. Lion has managed to hide the hops completely leaving not a grain of bitterness. A classic and very drinkable Pale Lager. A NZ micro brewer told me that "Pure" was born because Lion simply couldn’t copy the real Steinlager in their new plant, so they had to come up with a new name. 050208

(Can 33 cl) Clear, amber golden with a dense, off-white head leaving some laces. Lightly sweet aroma of caramel. Medium body, a little malt and sweetish caramel and a whiff of metal. Dry finish with a light bitterness. Not the worst macro. 300108

(Can 33 cl) Clear, amber golden with a creamy, off-white head, dissipating rather quickly while leaving a discreet lacework. Aroma of caramel and perhaps even a whiff of hops. Light-bodied, high in carbonation, a little malt and some nuttiness. The finish is dry. For a macro this ain’t too bad. Not even sure that it should be classified as a Pale Lager. 290108

(Bottle 33 cl) Clear, golden with a creamy, off-white head leaving some laces. Fresh, lightly citrusy aroma. Light-bodied with sweetish malt accents and a discreet bitterness in the finish. Not too bad for a light Pale Lager. 280108

(Can 33 cl) Clear, deep golden with a dense, shaving foam style head that leaves a dense lacework. Sweet aroma of malts. Light in body with the standard NZ macro sweetness of malts and brewing cereal. Absolutely no bitterness. But admittedly very drinkable. 240108

Bottle. Grassy hop aroma. Brassy golden color with a respectable white head that laces a little. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Pale malt, but a lot of grassy hop. Comes a bit veg and a bit fruity, but dry it is. Bitter as well. Crisp. Oh so much better than the American macros.

Poured from "King Kahuna" bottle into a Lager glass. Aroma is . . . different from the good beer I have been drinking recently. . .smells of grass (both the type growing in your yard as well as the illegal drug), there is also light citrus, heavy skunk and light malt. Pour typical golden straw color of mass produced pale lagers. Frothy white head and it appears to be very over carbonated. Over carbonation confirmed on taste. Watery to bitter flavor. Tastes cheap.

33cl can. Gold, thick white head. Slightly metallic stale cereal aroma. Faint lemon hop. Some creaminess. Yeah it’s ok. It’s a lager with some nice crispness on finish.
