Who we are.
SUCCESSION Fermentory was founded by partners Keith Hartwig and Justin Kerber in the Fall of ‘21. Hartwig is a brewer, artist, and educator whose work builds connections between people, food producers, and their local environments. Kerber is a chef with over a decade of experience working in Philadelphia’s best restaurants. He is passionate about supporting local growers through his culinary practice and discovering the terroir of the Chester County region. Benjamin Devon, wine aficionado and food industry expert, joined the team in the Fall of ‘22.
What we do.
At SUCCESSION Fermentory we grow, we forage, and we ferment with the aim of capturing flavors and experience that our unique to our region and our place in time. The work we do keeps our environmental footprint small, while supporting our local economy and contributing to the growing diversity of local agricultural practices and products. We are a true farmhouse brewery.

Draught at Man Full of Trouble: misty yellow with white head. Aroma is earthy and floral. Hops shine through a bit. Taste is lightly bitter, funky. Hops more flavorful than bitter. Sweetish finish. Very pleasant.

Draught at Man Full of Trouble: muddy light brown with no head. Aroma is vinegar, spruce, some vague fruit juice. Taste is fairly sour and acidic. Light sweetness that could cut through stronger. Wish this was dryer. Syrupy mouthfeel nevertheless.

Draught at Man Full of Trouble: gold with white head. Aroma is funky, fruit cup blend, yeasty, woody. Taste is sweetish, somewhat tart. Some complexity. Pleasant body.

Cask at Man Full Of Trouble: pours purplish red with white pink tinted head. Aroma is blackberry, yogurt, lactic. Taste is sweetish, somewhat tart. Body is nice and creamy. Quite pleasant.

Bottle at A Man Full of Trouble: pours pale yellow with white head. Aroma is lightly spicy, yeasty, floral. Fairly dry. Low bitterness. Not sweet. Flowery.

Draught at Man Full O Trouble: pours slightly hazy yellowish. White head. Aroma is lemony, spicy, grassy. Taste is slightly tart, lemony. Nice aftertaste. Solid.

Cask at Man Full O Trouble: pours dark reddish brown with loose cask head. Aroma is grapey, woody barrel, cherries, molasses. Taste is sweet and somewhat sour. Reminds me of a Flemish Brown.

Draught at Man Full O'Trouble: pours headless prange gold with white head. Aroma is slightly herby, juicyfruit, ample yeastiness. Taste is lightly tart, fairly sweet. Would have liked this to be drier and more intense. Still pretty good.

Bottle pour at the RB DC sendoff meetup. Poured a ruddy ruby brown color with a samll, off-white head. Aroma was light tart cherries. Flavor was pleasant cherries, light tartness. Well rounded. Really nice stuff!

From Stone's shared at a share: pours brownish red with small head. Aroma is cherry, loads of vinegar. not quite a true Flemmish red but close enough. Could be a little drier.
