In one of those places you think you've been in before, but can't be 100% certain. I worked around the corner from it for two months in 2015, but maybe I didn't come here, it's been updated recently anyhow. The beer is kept well, this hoppy session effort from rat proving a good enough choice.

I'm probably going to come across all stuffy here, but bare in mind this is Sunderland in 2025, and I'm aware in a few years time this will be a normal price, but £5.60 a pint for a 3.8% session brew seems excessive in these austere times in the pub in the city I am in. That said it's a quality brew, hoppy, easy, good water, looks fantastic with a deeper golden glow. Definitely could drink more of this.

My train at Filey yesterday got delayed in the station for good reason whilst a wheelchair passenger waited to board, however it was interesting to see how the level crossing immediately outside the station coped with this. It didn't, it had to wait too having already closed a short time before the choo choo even arrived. Ordinary life things, a bit like this, which straddles the styles Golden and Bitter. It's not outstanding in either aspect but is more than sessionably palatable.

I enjoyed the Jaws reference to the beer in its pump clip, probably less people now around who appreciate this over 50 years old classic. Nevertheless an enjoyable strong IPA, albeit nothing particularly special here. Fruity notes in both aroma and taste. Hazy appearance.

Cask at Post Office Vaults, Birmingham. Pours a clear amber gold, small white head, nice retention and lacing. Aroma of honey, toffee malts, quite sweet. Taste is sweet and rich, honey very notable, tangy dried fruits, low bitterness, tangy yeasty finish. Not quite balanced for me but did improve over time. Light to medium bodied, sticky. Average.
