16 oz. can from Trader Joe's. Brassy color in a tall wheat glass, which also kicks up a tall, spongy head. Nose has a little light blueberry, not much extra. Nice summer beer. Malt is light, but fizz helps bring it in. Blueberry and citrus actually make a nice match, not overdone to the point of seeming artificial, and the malt bill is equally light.

Tap at Tangled Roots Lock and Mule. Rich malts. Full bodied, classical, more or less Doppelbock territory. Deep caramel, Munich malt. Rich. Good.

Flight taster at Tangled Roots. Mysterious dark black, yet it throws of some highlights. Tan foam when it was first poured is all gone now. Notes of cocoa in the nose, plus a little cream and marshmallow. Taste is rich chocolate milk. I know this isn't barrel-aged, but I either pick up some oak chat or that just might be some stout roast malt. Some of that taste sorts itself out as the espresso added at some point in the process. Can be a bit harsh if you don't approach it in the right frame of mind.

Tater goblet at Tangled Roots. Gotta have at least one regular style to calibrate with. Darker amber than even most German Oktos. But the beer is clear, with a thin ring of foam after sitting and waiting its turn. Caramel malt nose leave no doubt as to this style. Rick, malty taste. No faults from aging a Marzen, if that is what they did.

Flight taster, tink goblet at Tangled Roots. Cloudy dark yellowish brown, thin ring of foam. Nose is a little hard to distinguish somehow. Picking up the blueberry scent once I get a sip out of it. Taste is more of a melange of fruits, with blueberry finally peeking its head out of the crowd. Another decently balanced beer, this time of malts with fruit flavors. The pale ale base continues to say itself to the end.

Flight tater at Tangled Roots. Hazy gold color in a small goblet. Thin foam layer leaving lace as it dwindles. Nice mellow nose of malts, with light hops. Taste has American pale ale all over it, but then there's a side-eye over to mango and papaya. Right at the border between sweet and dry.
