500ml bottle. Clear chestnut brown colour with average, frothy to creamy, half-way lasting, moderately lacing, off-white head. Slightly grassy and herbal hoppy aroma, caramel malty background, a touch of peppermint. Taste is herbal hoppy, a touch of citrus and peppermint, subtle, minimally sweet caramel malty undertones; minimally metallic touch in the slightly bitter finish.

Cask at the Old Contemptibles, Birmingham. Poured a lovely reddish brown with a broken off-white head. The aroma is rich and malty leading to a medium bitter flavour with lots of liqourice and caramel. The bitterness sits nicely on the palate and into the aftertaste for a truly heart warming and refreshing ale.

Cask gravity at CAMRA Chelmsford Winter Beer Festival. Dark ruby brown colour. Light bodied. Toasted toffee aroma. Has a smooth bitterness to it. One of the nicest mild’s I tried at the festival.

Cask @ Abbey Inn, Kinloss 131212
Light copper brown, clear, thin white head, good lacing
Aroma - caramel malts, toffee malts, light nose
Taste - caramel malts, rich toffee malts, soft sweet malts, some dark fruits, quite a rich flavour
Palate - medium body, fairly oily texture. Finish - lingering soft bitter hops, fairly sweet rich toffee malts, some fruity bitterish English hops coming through and a touch of digestive biscuit, some dryness
Overall - This is a decent bitter - it was in very good condition which no doubt helped
