Cask at the Victoria Inn, Rugby - 19/09/12. Clear golden in colour with a thin white head. Decent lacing ensues. Pretty muted nose of malt, hops and grain - no standout flavours, boring! Tastes a little grassy, pale malt, citrus tones allied to summer fruits. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation and a moderately bitter finish. File under ’W’ for whelmed!

Cask @ O’Connell’s
Forms a head(!). Aroma has bready malt and some caramel. Flavour is sourish and slightly tart with bready malt, strawberries and some toffee. Feels a bit contaminated.

Bottle. Clear copper with a small light beige head that never quite disappears. Very modest aroma of toffee, pears, light pepper and ginger. Thinnish body, low carbonation. Sweet with nutty toffee, pears, plums, a little orange peel; balancing bitterness that creeps up a fair bit as the glass wanders on. Dry and a little peppery at the end. OK if a little dull in the bottle.
