Can pour into nonic pint glass from the brewery. Appearance is cloudy, blood orange like carrot juice, less than finger width head with poor retention, no sparkle, no lacing. Aroma is strong tropical fruit, citrus, pineapple. Taste is tropical fruit, lemony citrus, late bitter. Palate is medium bodied with thick texture, average-to-lively carbonation and bittersweet finish. Overall, not the juiciest New England IPA but the Hibiscus gives this a cool color and still pretty tasty.

Can pour into tulip glass from the brewery. Appearance is an oily black pour, opaque in the glass with light sparkle at the edge of the glass, finger-plus width foamy light-brown head with reddish hue and decent retention with mild soapy lacing. Aroma is rich roasted malts, chocolate, hint of dark fruit. Taste is bittersweet roasted malts bordering on ash, toffee, dark fruit (stronger than in aroma) and mild alcohol. Palate is medium bodied with smooth, thick texture, average carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, awesome appearance, flavor expands the aroma and a nice mouthfeel, though could be a tad more full-bodied. A winner!

Bottle pour into shaker pint glass from the source. Appearance is like cider--cloudy light brown--can't discern sparkle, 2-finger width rocky beige head with decent retention, trace lacing. Aroma is pineapple, light citrus and resin and caramel malt. Taste is pineapple, citrus, malt background, piney resin, wheat. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with thin, smooth texture, soft-to-average carbonation with mix of sweet pineapple/malt with resin. Overall, I'm not the biggest fan of resiny bitterness, but there's nice balance with decent complexity.

Bottle pour into tulip glass from the source. Appearance is hazy orange with tons of sparkle, two-finger width foamy off-white head with good retention and nice soapy lacing. Aroma is dank resin, sugary sweet lemon citrus over grains. Taste is dank resin bitter balanced with sweet orange-lemon citrus, with bready malt backbone. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with slick texture, average-to-lively carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, a bit toward the dank bitter side for me but there is some complexity with the citrus and malt contributions. Somewhat old school but well crafted.

$7.99 bomber from Gag Jr's Liquor Shop in New Haven (was on sale, original price $10.99).
Pours dark brown, nearly black with a large, soft beige head. Aroma, immediately, jumps out: rye, pine, roasted malt, citrus. Very strong, very nice.
Flavor is roasted malt, pine, orange peel, spruce tips, caramel. Almost a winter feel, but not quite.
