Description

Dutch quadrupel with the red deer on its front label, thanks Craftmember for sharing. Mousy, pale yellowish beige, medium thick, opening head, ruddy bronze robe with amberish tinge. Aroma of candi syrup, candied fig, honey, caramel, bubblegum, apple peel, brown bread dough, ground hazelnuts, dried prunes, raisins. Sweet onset, fig and raisin notes, some red apple and banana, fizzy carb (relatively sharp for even a Belgian style beer), full mouthfeel; very caramelly, sweet-pecan-nutty and brown-bready maltiness, some honeyish residual sugars, herbal hop accent in the end, mildly bitter; soggy toast- and caramel-like flavours linger, highlighted by a brandy-like alcohol effect in the tail. Classic Belgian quad profile, doesn’t really add anything to this style, but decently made and enjoyable enough.

Deep golden color. Honey and some floral notes in the aroma. Sweetish honey flavor with soft floral notes and citrus. Decent.

Unlabeled bottle from Maarten, thanks! Golden color. Malt and floral notes in the aroma. Malty sweetish flavor, slightly perfumed. Floral with hints of citrus. Medium bodied. Fairly low on carbon. Certainly not bad, but needs to gain complexity.
