Draught as part of a tasting paddle, at James Squire Brewhouse at the Portland Hotel, Melbourne, on July 30, 2013.Hazy golden color, white head. Sweet, caramel, hoppy, citrus, alcohol taste. Bitter, resin aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel, high bitterness. Malty, hoppy, citrus, alcohol scent.

ChrisOs Kook Tasting. Clear golden beer. Light carbonation. Sweet malt and a little fruit. Pretty authentic tasting tripel. Not bad.

Pours dark amber with a small lasting head.Nose shows massive toasty/nutty malt and caramel alongside a heap of earthy, resinous hops... nice!Similar hops and malt follow as flavours, although the hops take a more dominant role with big resinous notes and a pronounced bitterness.Carbonation is a bit high for these flavours.

Pours pale gold with a small head.Nose shows some fruity hops with hints of passionfruit and peach.Same idea with the flavours with the addition of some nice nutty and cookie-dough like malt.Carbonations is too high.

Note that I initially thought this was just a rebadging of the Original Pilsener, however the ingredients listed in the description are substantially different, si I think it is probably a different beer. However, whilst I enjoy James Squire beers, I am not an expert. Bottle. Clear gold with good white head. Vegetably hop aroma. Light body and frothy carbonation. Fruity sweetish start with a strong bitter finish that is a bit harsh. Overall, quite a good pilsner, but a bit harsh.

Draught at James Squire Brewhouse, Melbourne. Hazy nut brown., creamy head. Served far too cold, but upon warming up it reveals a rich lychee-like hop aroma. It is dry and firmly malty with clean malt character. The finish is really bitter. A spot on American style hop monster.

Draught at AIBA, Melbourne. Clear golden. Hoppy lychee aroma. Medium sweet and highly hop aromatic - like lychee juice! The mouthfeel as soft an dpleasant, and the bitterness is in the lower end of the spectre. A refreshing and damn good golden ale!

Draught at AIBA, Melbourne. Hazy golden, small head. A welth of grapefruity hops up front. Clean, caramelly malt character, hard mouthfeel. A salty finish with lingering inly bitterness. Well hopped, but a bit off balance.

Clear darker golden coloured body with a nice dense off-white head. Aroma of fresh malt with a subtle twang of citrus and hops. Medium-bodied; Good malt flavours up front with some citrus flavours lingering in the back. Aftertaste characterises the fresher flavours in this one and lingers a while in the palate. Overall, a very nice example of a lager produced in Australia, and probably the best of the style on the trip! I sampled this from a 355 mL bottle in Melbourne, Australia.
