In 1810, the Eibau brewery was established by the Zittau brewing community.
The location of Eibau was confirmed by King Friedrich August I (1806-1827 King of Saxony) as the first rural brewery in the Zittau area. Since then, beer has been brewed here in the heart of the Upper Lausitz.

Can from Drankenhandel Leiden. Aroma is sweet banana with bready wheat, spicy yeast, banana bread, and a hint of citrus. Flavour is medium sweet and light bitter. Body is medium. Decent Weizen, fairly heavy on the banana.

500 ml can from the Costco German Biergarten Collection. Pours a crystal clear, very dark copper color with a small khaki head and good retention. Decent lacing. Caramel malt aroma. The flavor is more toffee than caramel, with a dark malt finish. Sweet, not bitter. Almost a dessert beer. Very smooth and clean. The 6.7% ABV is invisible. Medium body and light carbonation. Dark caramel and toffee aroma. Tangy toffee flavor, with a mellow finish. Slightly sweet, but not as sweet as I expected. The tangy flavor subsides as you drink more. Decent, but not as good as I hoped. The 6.7% ABV is completely invisible. Medium body. Slick, syrupy mouthfeel. Almost no carbonation. Not bitter.

Dark malt aroma, as expected. The taste follows the nose: Smooth, clean, and lightly sweet dark malt flavor throughout. Simple, uncomplicated profile. Nice, easy drinking beer. Medium-light body. Medium-light carbonation. No bitterness and no coffee notes.
