Clear dark amber with no head. Sweet malty aroma with caramel notes. Fruity flavour with toasted malt, caramel and hops that gives it a bitter finish.

Bottle. A slightly hazy golden beer with a medium sized off-white head. Mellow citrusy nose with malt and caramel blending in. Fruity start on the flavor, mostly citrus, but also a touch of tropical fruits and canned fruits. Low on malty flavors. Some caramel and roasted notes though. Quite thin on the body, but not watery. Citrusy finish with some hoppy bitterness.Malty sweetness in the very end. A refreshing and easy drinkable beer, typical all-nighter, but far from standing out in the crowd. And the name is a bit bragging, more suited for an imperial stout than for a session-style bitter. Rating: 5-4-5-3-11-2.8. (080720)

Bottle. It pours a clear, dark golden body, topped by a finger-thick off-white head leaving some lacings. Caramel maltyness and a gentle fruity hoppyness in the aroma. Citrus and tropical fruits too. There seems to be a touch of butterscotch too. Mostly fruity in the mouth, with orange, pears and some plum. Malty sweet in the back. Some bitterness lingering. Medium, smooth mouthfeel. Low on co2, like a casked beer that was opened yesterday. The beer slides down easily and sure doesn’t taste bad, but it somehow resembles a limonade or soda drink. (081108)

Cask-conditioned at the Lord John (JDW), Stroud 28/6/08. Dark amber with a moderate white head. Decent fruity malt and caramel aroma with some grassy hops. Flavour had plenty of chewy sweet malts, with a hint of roastiness and spice, finishing with a decent bitter kick. Very good.

500 ml bottle. Hazy, dark orange body with a small, fast disappearing off-white head. Vague aroma with a hint of caramel. Flavor is malty, with some fruit and caramel. Some hops in finish, but a bit to light is my overall impression.

[500ml bottle from Co-Op High Wycombe] Under "Goldminer alias. Beautiful copper colour with a lovely orangey flavour leading into a spicy hoppy aftertaste. However, it’s spoiled by too much fizz.
