A rich premium strength ale, plenty of hops in the nose, and loads of rich malt flavours in the mouth, an initial sweetness is rapidly replaced by the onslaught of hops a La Freeminer style, and the beer departs leaving a complex but balanced hop and malt aftertaste.

Cask at the Red Lion and Pineapple - Acton. Pours clear, dark gold with a foamy, white head. Sweet beer, with moderate bready malts, sugary fruits, minimal bitterness. Medium bodied with fine carbonation; OK condition. Finishes with further sweet malt character and mellow, sugary fruits. Fine.

Cask at The Metropolitan Bar (W’Spoons), Baker Street, London. A dark amber/ruby red coloured pour with a medium white head on top. Vague fruity, caramel. Tastes fruity, caramel, almost metallic. Clearly not very fresh. I left most of it.

(Cask at Angleterre, 20140602) The beer poured ruby red and clear. Its head was medium sized, white and it lasted long. Aroma had toffee, caramel and grass. Palate was medium bodied with low carbonation. Flavours were caramel, sweetness, earth, grass, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet, malty and bitter. A way too sweet ESB.

Cask @ Snow Goose, Inverness 270611 Appereance - Amber brown, hazy, frothy off white head..good lacing. Aroma - fruity malt, bit of apple, slight roast. Taste - fruity red berry malt, hint of apple (less than the aroma), some caramel malt, some roasted malt. Finish of fruity malt with lingering roasted bitterness. Quite good beer, above average, the hint of apple doesn’t spoil the taste.
