Bottle from Northumbrian Gifts. Clear gold, consistent white top and some lacing. Nice hoppy aroma with tart citrus, fruit salad, floral notes. Favour follows aroma, tasty fruit salad with citrus most notable, hint of biscuit, crisp bitter bite. Light bodied, refreshing, slightly dry. Another solid offering from Allendale - they are very consistent I have to say.

Bottle from Northumbrian Gifts. Pours black with nice sized beige to tanned head. Aroma has a sweet treacle, dark chocolate, dry roasted notes, raisins, a bit dusty. Taste has all the elements you need with caramel, chocolate, coffee, hint of licquorice. There is an undercurrent of dark malts, with a nice bitter finish being part roast and part hoppy. A slight tangy citric element in the finish as well. Medium+ bodied, low to soft carbonation. Its closer to a sweet moreish stout than a big roasty number. There is still enough bitterness to balance. It might not be the most complex stout but it's not that basic either. Enjoyable and tasty.

Can from Northumbrian Gifts. 3/4 hazy dark gold with moderate sized white fluffy head. Sweet fruity hop aroma of citrus, pineapple, passionfruit, malts. Taste follows in similar vein; quite zesty with hop spice sprinkle, pineapple and mango, slight green-herby element, grainy to pillowy malts, semi-tangy and bitter finish. Medium bodied, light chewy, a basic fine carbonation. No surprises with this one but it's well brewed and tasty. Certainly an above average NEIPA.

Half-pint, draught, shared with Finn at Free Trade Inn. Clear late straw coloured body, slowly diminishing white head that laced well. Moderate cereal malts on the nose, hints of hops as well. Carefully blend of noble hops and a little malty sweetness. Mid-dry pale malty ending. Clean on the swallow. Decent pilsner version. (Byker - Newcastle upon Tyne, 20.03.2024).
