Description
The Oslo was the start of Galway Bay Brewery and remains our flagship pub based in Salthill; our owners Jason O’Connell and Niall Walsh added a brewery on site in 2009, making The Oslo one of the country’s first brew pubs. Since then Galway Bay Brewery has expanded operations to 11 bars based in Galway and Dublin and have grown and re-positioned the Brewery just outside of Galway in Oranmore. We now produce four core beers along with a plethora of rotational beers that are released throughout the year.
With the installation of our new brew house we are turning our focus towards exporting and making our beers available in the UK and Europe

Bottle at C&R Pre-GBBF Tasting 2017. It pours opaque black with a small tan head. The aroma is soft, sweet, sugary, raw alcohol, rocky road, almond biscotti and chocolate. The taste is rich roasted malt upfront, earthy, charred wood, umami, ashy, oiliness and liquorice with some warming on the finish. Full body and fine carbonation. A decent imperial stout.

Bottle at C&R Pre-GBBF Tasting 2017. It pours jet black with a small tan head. The aroma is rich roasted malt, heavy sweet, sticky, chocolate, dried fruits, rocky road, toasted marshmallow, coffee and wood. The taste is slick, rich roasted malt, charred wood, rocky road, cake, tar, ash, leather, salted liquorice, cocoa, dirt and warming alcohol. Full body and fine carbonation. There is a distant burnt note which detracts from it a bit, but it is rather decent overall.

500ml bottle @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie Sep 17. Brought by myself. Pours dark, tan head. Aroma presents confident Teeling whisky notes, backed by strong dark malt, woody, moderately slick on the palate, light roast, cocoa, softly sweet. Quite tempered really, very enjoyable end to the evening.

4th Sep 2017: Shrewsbury monthly beer share in Chez Sophie, cheers Mat for this 500ml green waxed bottle (BB Mar 2018). Last beer of a fantastic journey drinking different styles, strengths and sizes, all brought by one of the five present on the evening. Black pour, tanned topping. Aroma has dark maltiness, whiskey and liquorice within it's make up. The taste follows along the same lines, malty, whiskey and liquorice all feature in the boozy flavour. Good end to a lovely evening.

Nitro at The Garden. Slightly clear cola dark brown/black. Tan nitro head. Dry crackery cocoa aroma, far more malty - classic dry stout aroma - than chocolatey though. Sweet chocolatey soft full tadte light chocolate taste. Very nice, a beer where nitro actually works - yay.
