Description
Dorset Orchards Ciders were born out of a long standing friendship between John Palmer and David Sheppy, sixth generation Master of Cider from Sheppys, in Taunton.
With David’s expertise, and apples sourced from close to the Old Brewery in Bridport, three traditional ciders were crafted and form a welcome addition to the Palmers range, keeping our core values of quality, heritage and above all, flavour.

500ml bottle. Golden colour with a short-lived white foam head. Aroma of apple, woody oak, funk. Taste is tangy apple, alittle apple skin, bittersweet, with caramel, vanilla, slight barnyard notes and some drying tannins. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, dry tannic finish. Quite drinkable.

Bottle from The Palmer’s wine shop in Bridport. It pours clear gold with a quickly dissipating white head. The nose is earthy, musty, apple juice from concentrate, apple pie, light spice and vanilla. The taste is pretty sweet upfront, candied apple, light vanilla, white sugar, apple pie and just a hint of apple skin with a dry finish. Medium body and fine, yet fizzy. Aroma is nice, but it is too sweet and sugary for my liking. So-so.

Keg at the New Inn, Cerne Abbas, 25/10/15. Clear light golden blonde with a moderate head of white bubbles. Nose is crisp apple, straw, light honey, faint wood. Taste comprises apple skins, light smoke, straw, hint of vanilla. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, crisp drying close. Decent enough cider, not too sweet, good balance.

On hand pump at the Orchard, Bristol 28/9/2015. Golden with a slight haze. An easy drinking cider, with plenty of fresh tasting juice, a hint of the farmyard and a medium dry finish. Fine.
