Description
United Dutch Breweries in Breda was created when the Belgian Interbrew closed the Breda Oranjeboom brewery in 2004, which it had taken over in 1995. Oranjeboom's export department carried out a management buy-out and continued independently with Oranjeboom's brand portfolio, which was acquired from Interbrew. The beers are not brewed anymore in Breda but elsewhere.

This beer looks good but the good news stops there. Very rough, unclean taste. Flavour is bitter and drying and the alcohol is very detectable. The musty aftertaste just won’t go away.

(Can 50 cl) Clear, golden with a dense and lively, off-white head leaving some lacework. Sweetish aroma of brewing syrup and alcohol. Medium-bodied, flavours of sweet corn and an alcoholic and somewhat astringent finish. A classic park bench beer. 120208

Can. Grape juice and caramel malt aroma. Golden yellow color with giant head. Very sweet/cloying grape juice flavor. On the plus side, there aren’t really any noticeable fusels but the nasty sweetness negates that positive.

330 ml can, thanks to KnutAlbert. ABV is 5.0%. Ingredients include maize (corn). "Brewed and canned in the EU under licence of and distributed by Bierbrouwerij de Vriedenkring, Breda Holland." Pale golden colour, large and lasting head. Moderate sweetish and fruity aroma. Boring industrial pale lager flavour, notes of artificial sweetener. Minimal hops. Bad beer.

Large can. From what I initially expected, this beer was fantastic. One of the best Pale Lagers I’ve had. Golden pour, with large white head. Sweeter than initially expected, and more hops than I thought would be in there. I could see myself having this one again.

Slightly corny aroma. Brassy gold color with a respectable white head. Medium bodied. Mild carbonation. Flavor starts well with decent balance of malt and bitter. The finish is nicely bitter, rather dry, and the malt still is noticeable in a non-sweet way. A good lager, as lagers go. A bit heavier than the Amis may be used to.

Canned (by Posthornbrouwerij, Breda). Deep golden colour, mediumsized bubbly head. Aroma is very alcoholic, glueish and slightly malty. Flavour is fruits, alcohol and some malts. Really sweet and the alcohol burns in the aftertaste. A rather nicely going-down malt liquor,
