Im Glas erstrahlt das Ostarrichi in schönem Goldgelb. Die weiße, feinporige Schaumkrone verhält sich dabei flaumig-stabil und langlebig. In der Nase vernimmt man eine getreidige leicht weißbrotartige Malzigkeit, einen Hauch Zitrus, sowie florale bis heuige Hopfennoten. Der Antrunk kommt frisch, sehr spritzig, würzig-malzig und sehr angenehm, heuig und blumig hopfenaromatisch. Im Mundgefühl zeigt sich ein, für ein Pils, durchaus ansprechender Körper mit feiner Rezenz, seidiger Textur und leichter Trockenheit. Geschmack und Aroma präsentieren sich gut weißbrot- bis leicht honigartig malzig, neigt dabei aber nicht zu süß zu werden. Ebenso eine zarte Zitrusnote, gute Würze und ein schöner Übergang in eine leicht trockene, florale bis heuige Hopfenaromatik mit zarter Herbe. Es entsteht ein überraschend fülliges, nicht allzu bitteres oder trockenes, sehr angenehmes und ausgewogenes Pils, wie man es auch auch Bayern kennt. Dadurch entsteht auch eine sehr gute Drinkability und man kann von diesem Bier ohne Probleme mehr als nur ein kleines Fläschchen zu sich nehmen. Im Nachtrunk wirkt die Malzaromatik schön nach und weicht nur langsam der leicht trockenen, floralen und heuigen Hopfenaromatik.
Mein Fazit: Wer es nicht allzu herb mag, ist mit diesem Pils sehr gut beraten. Mir persönlich gefällt es ganz gut!

Bottle from House of Trembling Madness. Clear gold with small white top. Grains, grass and sweet earthy floral notes in aroma. Grains and bready malt then a short sweet floral/herbal taste and then it kinds of fades a bit apart from a modest background bitterness that lingers. Light to medium bodied and a bit short on carbonation for the style.

Bottled 330ml. -from Billa Plus Siersberg, shared with Marko & Hrabren. Unclear orange/golden coloured, medium sized off-white head, caramel and weak herbal nose. Caramel, herbal, bit floral and weak fruity touch in the finish. Light oxidation as well.

0.33 l bottle thanks to Ogi, shared with Marko and him. Hazy orange, small off-white head. Aroma is lightly hoppy, fruity, peach, tangerine, candy. Lightly malty caramely background. Flavour is bready, cracker, candy, melon, mango, tangerine and spice. Moderate bitterness. Medium body, slightly creamy, soft carbonation. Finishes rather sweet.

Bottled, thx Ogi! Shared with Hrabren as well. Hazy orange-golden body, thick off-white head. Grainy aroma, bit oxidized, citric touches, vaguely floral. Grainy maltiness, citric-floral hoppy touches, mild bitterness, lightly soapy. I mean... Not bad, just too yeasty/creamy for its own good.

Bottle from Spar. Rather thin body, med-high carbonation. Unpleasantly sweetish, corny, syrupy. A bit worty. Also moderate bitterness with an unpleasant grassy earthy edge. Overall not very good.

Bottle from Spar Gumpendorfer Strasse 121. Clear golden body, slightly dull, off-white head. Honeyish malty aroma, lightly industrial, some herbal, floral, citric hoppy touches. Pleasant herbal hoppy taste, bit floral, lightly oily, clean maltiness. Bitterish herbal finish. A tasty, dare I say underrated macroish lager! Just don't rate an Austrian Märzen as a Märzen ffs.
