Description
Through more than 200 years of making real premium craft cider, six generations of the Sheppy family have weathered the ups and downs of combining farming with cider-making by embracing change and opportunity.

Today David Sheppy the incumbent Master of Cider, applies his unrivalled knowledge and expertise from a lifetime of cider making to turn our home-grown apples into some of the finest and award winning ciders.

Fifteen of our 90 acres of orchards we planted with tradition standard apple trees. Eight acres of these are certified organic. The remaining 75 acres contain bush trees planted at between 200 and 300 trees per acre, so about 19,000 trees in total at Sheppy's.

Bottle from Brewer’s Droop, Bristol. Pale gold with moderate carbonation. Aroma of fresh apple juice with some barnyard aromas of cheese and yeast and a hint of wood. Flavour had some medium sweet juice, oak and a decently dry finish. A good bottled cider.

Bottle. Golden cider with a light head. The aroma is quite dry and vinous and the flavour is vinous, warming and quite bitter. Overall a very nice cider.

Bottle from Brewer’s Droop, Bristol. Plae gold in colour with plenty of fizz. Sweet apple juice aroma, verging on the industrial. Flavour was similarly one dimensional, with some apple juice and a hint of tannin in the finish. The worst Sheppys ciders by a long way.

Bottle from Sainsbury, Kidlington, 02-07-09 Pours lemony gold with fast disappearing white head. Oak is present on nose. Good tangy cider, the apples have been softened out by the oak aging. Very, dry at the end with tannins settling around the gums. Easy drinking despite the abv, nicely tangy, not too sharp, good apple and oaky combination. I really liked this and was a touch dismayed to see that it hadn’t scored higher than it has. A7 A4 F8 P4 Ov15 3.8
