Draft shaker, on my first visit to Lunar. Confusion! Lunar’s MySpace page lists an "Imperial Blackberry Ale," but at 9.6%, and with a different description. And that beer’s not listed here, anyway. Slightly hazy reddish-brown color with a thin white head of foam. A bit of tartness to the smell. Taste is a bit bigger on malts than on fruits, but that’s fine by me; it keeps fruit beer from getting to cloying. This is yet another Cream Ale that gives an impression of sourness. Is it the style; fermenting lager yeast at ale temp? Also get a taste of unsettled yeast here, and some sharp hop notes that are welcome. I still like this one.

Draft at BOSS picnic. This is off a regular tap instead of nitro, so this will be a different impression. Thin, brown eggshell head. More bitter astringency than most oatmeals, but also more grainy and roasty. I thought it should be smoother, but that’s just my opinion and I’ll eventually get to try it in its "natural environment."
