Pretty close to black. Thin head. On the nose this leans into the chocolate/coffee side of the style. So it's sweetish, but doesn't bring malt complexity. It is not bad but if I am thinking in terms of what it doesn't have rather than what it does, that says something.

Only the most minimal of haze, no head. This is off, phenols, gasoline, fuck off. Way too lazy.

On tap at Angel's Trumpet (tapped 2 months ago), pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma is somewhat muted, with piney hops, earthy notes, and bready malt. Flavour has a nice bright piney hop character despite the age, with some bitter citrus skins, and earthiness. Would've been even better fresh, but this stands up. Very good.

16oz can pours a mostly clear brown with two fingers of off white head. Nose has caramel and malt and brown sugar and baking spice. Flavors of Christmas cookie and butterscotch and baking spice. It's a holiday ale. Off dry, full bodied.

Waxed bomber pours with a deep rutty ruby red body that supports a thin tan head of foam. The mild aroma offers up a bit of malts and then a growing boozy bourbon barrel booziness. The taste delivers smooth rich bourbon barrel boozy heat tempered nicely by a slick malty sweetness. This does attain a pleasing balance and depth. Nice.
