Description
Foam. It's always been an unconscious calling like drifting into a cumulus cloud bank on a sun-drenched day, or collapsing in a frothy curl of a breaking wave. Foam; it's natural beauty that rises up and is here and gone in a moment in time. I have spent my working life in foam, beer foam that is, brewing beer, conjuring up mixtures of malt and hops to ferment into a crowning moment of beer. Great beer has always sat under foam. Foam. It's not one ingredient that gives stability; it's many interwoven to create a structure of strength pouring out visual excitement. As I sit for a time, I enjoy that moment. All that remains is the lacing that adorns the empty glass and the making of a great memory. Until next time, see you under the Foam...

Canned 12/19/24, drunk 3/12/25.
Clear, dark auburn. Large, beige head, good retention.
Nose seems like a hint of old coffee/beaniness at first but this does mostly pass. Still, almost zero hop that I can find. Don't need much, but something to help balance the rich base malt and dark malt. Good minerality and not too much sweetness. Clean.
There's a bit of fresh herb from the Saaz, maybe a touch of pepper, with a rich base malt and an almost syrupy caramel character, which is impressive for its size. Could stand to be a touch more crisp/bitter/balanced on the finish, as a result, but the flavor and texture are certainly comforting and the good attenuation keeps it quite drinkable.

16 oz can. The aroma of lemon, cracker malt, pepper. A mild lingering lemon throughout the sip with bready malt and a nice crispness. Soft lasting white pepper finish. Really well constructed and exceptionally refreshing. Great!

Canned 1/29/25, drunk 3/5/25.
Clear blonde-golden. Medium-sized, white head, somewhat creamy. Moderate retention.
New age "APA" with no toast, resin, caramel, etc...aka a good version of the beer. Honey-like malts are fairly rich for its size and there's a bit of tropical fruit, a hint of pine and mild citrus. Clean, snappy, bright.
Lightly juicy with earthiness, biscuit, a lean but supportive malt texture and hints of pine and citrus. Lower bitterness but well-balanced. Very easy drinking with a good amount of flavor.

16 ounce can from Lower Merion Beverage. Hazy yellow gold color. Large rocky white head. Biscuity malt aroma hints at lemon peel. Flavor is sweet, pale malt, lemon zest, white grape must and mild acidity. Some minerality on the palate, as well. Mild dry finish.

Can (12/13/23) from The Beer Store, Salem. Virtually opaque dark brown w/mahogany, nice sparkle, head with poor retention and trace lacing. Aroma is strong brown bread, earthy roasted malt, hint of soy. Taste is strong brown bread, raisin, fig, earthy roasted malt, hint of soy. Creamy texture, soft carbonation and finish as taste. Good strength and decent complexity for style.

Pours clear gold into a willi. Bright white head with excellent retention recedes leaving scant sheets. Tart lemon/lime and marshmallow aromas. Crisp with sweet lemon tart and lime peel upfront turning to pith and peel in the medium length finish.

Canned 11/7/24, drunk 2/11/25.
Good clarity, pale-brass. Large, white head, slowly to cover.
Smells true to the commercial description (pepper in place of clove, the way a real saison should be). Gentle, dainty citrus, cracker and honey from the malt. Clean and bright.
Oh yeah, that's full of plastery-cellar-pepper-stonefruit (for lack of a better way to describe it). Quite flavorful for its size. Maybe a bit forward on the citrus and there's A LOT of pepper, growing almost fatiguing. The citrus and strong malt takes away, a bit, from the delicate nature of a good saison's character, but you can't deny the compelling charm of this yeast, whatever they've used. Malty and substantial with good attenuation.

16 oz can. Aroma is light baked bread and soft grassy hops. Flavor follows with the addition of some subtle florals. Light body with a crisp texture. Pretty respectable but not sure this would be a repeat buy.
