33 cl bottle purchased at HopSin Brewpub, Colares. A clear, dark brown pour with a short-lived, bone-colored (almost gray) head. There's loads of berries on the nose, the likes of bilberry, blackberry, blackcurrant... There's also licorice, chicory, black pepper and -yes- coffee. Dry and crisp mouth. Medium to low body. Bitterness is average for the style. Long-lasting aftertaste. Well done.

33 cl bottle from HopSin brewpub, Colares. A hazy brownish red pour with virtually no head. Aroma is burnt scents, the likes of caramel or dark chocolate, and red berries, the likes of strawberry or Morello cherry. And... that's pretty much it all. Sweetish onset, creamy and dull midpalate. This is lacking acidity, so it feels sort of heavy and clumsy. Finish is bitterer than Belgian dubbels (but Belgian dubbels tend to be bitterless, anyway). Hints of chicory in the rather long-lasting aftertaste.

33 cl bottle at HopSin Brewpub, Colares. A hazy orange to amber pour with a greenish cast and an off-white, bubbly, short-lived head. Aroma is very intense citrus, mango, pine needle. A smidge of white flowers too. Dry, crisp and medium-bodied. Very long and very bitter finish with renewed tinges of tropical and citrus fruits. Nice.

33 cl bottle bought at HopSin Brewpub, Colares. The label shows the Sintra-Colares red tram, a rare sight nowadays but still a staple of this town. An amber to orange, hazy pour with an even, consistent, long-lasting, off-white head. Aroma is intense, laden with bitter herbs (rocket, dandelion) and citrus fruits (grapefruit, blood orange peel). There's a hint of mango, too. Dry, slurpy onset, medium carbonated. Full-bodied, crisp and elegant. Quite bitter, medium-lingering finish. Good.

33 cl bottle bought at HopSin Brewpub, Colares. A pitch black glossy dark pour with a beige-to-brown thick head. Aroma is latte, prunes, raisins, smoky, leather, black coffee. Onset is sweetish, mouthfeel dense and slow. Good balancing acidity. Bitter, smoked, long-lasting finish. Very nice.

Tap at The Beer Station, Lisboa. Amber colour, medium-sized off-white head and lace. Malty, a bit rustic aroma. Light-bodied. Malty, some caramalt, hoppy bitterness. A bit homebrewish.

330ml bottle @ O Cantinho Lord Byron, Sintra. Pours a generally clear gold, good white topping. Bright floral citrus nose. Taste is surprisingly bright, fragrant, citrussy with a good bitter prickle. Super refreshing, flavoursome. Very good indeed.
