Half pint from tap served xtra cold at The Southerner , Temple, London. Dark brown red-tinged body with lacing on the glass. Light roasted malty to the nose. Notes of dark chocolate malts in flavour supported by a touch of sweet caramel. Too diluted palate for a porter. It’s a pity that the ice cold serving temperature took some of the flavour from all of the Speights beers at the bar (01.05.2008).

Half on tap at The Southerner, London. Crystal clear, amber-brown body. No head. Little aroma, fresh smell of hard water and sweetness. Flashes of caramel malts in flavour. Rather lively carbonated. More refreshing than pleasing in taste (01.05.2008).

Half pint on tap served far too cold at The Southerner, Temple, London. Shining golden body with a few white patches on the top. Great laceworks on the glass. Hoppy aroma. Refreshing hoppy taste with dry, earthy malts behind. Clean palate. Much more hops in this one compared to what they call pilsener in Norway. With a better serving temperature this one could have been even more flavoursome (01.05.2008).
