Description
Big Boss has been through a lot of incarnations. In 1996 Tomcat Brewing started which became Pale Ale (it was really owned by the same people), then it became Rock Creek, and that’s when Brad Wynn became involved. Rock Creek became Chesapeake Bay for a very short time and nearly went under. We came back and started Edenton, and then, fortunately, Geoff Lamb bought it and we became Big Boss.

Bottled. A chest-nut colored beer with a brown head. The aroma has notes of caramel, malt, nuts, and roasted malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel, nuts, cocoa powder, and malt, leading to a dry cocoa finish. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

Sampled on draft at the brewery. Pours a clear reddish brown color with a large head. Good head retention and fair lacing. Aroma is overwhelming bourbon with notes of burned wood and caramel. The taste is thankfully more sedate with the bourbon, with nutty caramel malts, a light hoppiness and faint bourbon in the background. Thin-medium bodied,

Bottle shared by dchmela @ otakuden’s Vero Beach Throwdown. Pours black with tan head. Big raspberry aroma with some roasted malts. Roasted malt flavor with a light touch of raspberries that is not overpowering. It’s fruity with sligh tartness. Medium body with moderate carbonation.
