Description
It started with two longtime friends, a cousin’s basket press, and a brother’s apple tree. In cliché terms, the rest is history. Tyler Butcher and Logan Barger have been friends since the days of Little League Baseball, and have grown up going to the same high school and rooming together during their college years. It was then that they got their first taste of cider. Years later they decided to give it a go at making hard cider themselves. Many batches later, their family and friends actually enjoyed drinking the cider they were making. Kekionga Craft Company was no longer just a thought, it was about to become a reality.
Kekionga Craft Company found its home in a historic apple mill located on the northeast side of Fort Wayne, IN in the fall of 2016 and opened its doors in June 2017. Since then they have went from just four taps in the tasting room to now fourteen and an ever expanding menu including wine, mead, and beer.

Pours hazy pale yellow. The aroma is a nice slightly flowery apple. The flavor is pretty dry with just a bit of sweetness. it’s easy drinking as advertised and finishes dry.

Pours amber brown with a large head. It has a caramel malt aroma. The flavor is malty sweet with a touch of bitterness. It’s alright though not as smoothly flavorful as it could be. Medium bodied.

Pours lightly hazy pale yellow. It smells of pumpkin pie spices and apple. The flavor is not very sweet, closer to a semi dry cider, with pumpkin pie spices and some apple, but not enough somehow. There’s an unfortunate, sort of bitter character that’s not working for me. It’s not terrible, but should be better.

Pours a reddish purple. It has a mild blueberry aroma. The flavor is lightly sweet, some would say dry for a cider and I’d say balanced. It has a nice blend of blueberries and apples with neither overpowering the other.

Pours lightly hazy pale yellow green. The aroma is really minty with some pineapple too. The flavor is sweet but not terribly so. Mint and tart pineapple are definitely in there with the apple. Pleasant and refreshing.

Pours slightly hazy gold. The aroma is very caramelly with somewhat musty apples. It tastes sweet, a little sweeter than the “boat drink” I had before it. There’s lots of caramel and apples. It works pretty well.

This is listed as a still, dry cider with 6.9% abv. It pours slightly hazy pale yellow. The aroma definitely has both apples and grapefruit. The flavor blends citrus and apples fairly well. It’s dry with some grapefruit bitterness in the finish. Full disclosure: I’m not really a grapefruit fan. This is okay though.

Oranges lead the aroma. The flavor is fairly dry but the prominent oranges seem to be adding some sweetness. There’s a touch of funk. Tasty.

The cidery is making the occasional beer now. I hear they use Gnometown’s facility to brew it. This is a hazy copper gold pour with a lingering white head. The aroma is pretty fruity. Citrus and tropical. The flavor is at most moderately bitter, maybe less. To me it’s closer to a hazy ipa. Alright. Good fruity characteristics. Medium body.

This is a nice semi dry mead. It’s somewhat toasty with some graham cracker coming through to join the honey flavors. Chocolate and marshmallows as the menu says? I don’t know about that. It’s subtle if noticeable at all. It’s an enjoyable mead though.
