RBESG 2019, Grand Tasting. Dark amber, small off-white head. Light caramel, lightly toasty, light alcohol, light dried fruit, no wood. Caramel, spices, candy. Where's the wood? Light to medium body, soft carbonation, light finish.

Swing-top bottle, 750 ml: Deep golden with an orangey sheen, cloudy, big rocky and persistent off-white head, sweet fruity-orangey nose, yeasty spots underneath, presumably some wheaty dust detectable; solid sweet and mildly bitter flavour, full bodied, soft and a bit sticky; a strictly limited tartness shows up in the the slightly drier and more bitter - but all in all - sweet fruity and yeasty finish. Well done! As usual at DBB: The stronger, the better…

0.33 l bottle at 5.2% abv from 'Bergmann Stehbierhalle Drive-In', best before January 2021. Clear, golden with a medium large, frothy, stable, white head. Slightly sweetish, rather herbal-grassy and slightly fruity-floral aroma of hay, some grains and a touch of lemon peel. Slightly sweet, gently bitter, fairly herbal-grassy and slightly fruity-floral taste of grains, hay and some lemon peel, followed by a short, quite bitter, herbal-grassy, rather dry finish. Medium body, smooth and gently effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Rather classic but fairly hoppy and aromatic Pils, quite good!

Tap (@ DBB Kiosk, on one of the last pre-pandemic days): Deep golden, a bit unclear, smaller stable and creamy off-white head, moderate sweet grainy-bready nose, balancing herbal hops well detectable; pretty solid bitter-sweet flavour, full bodied; lingering honeyish and herbal-bitter finish. Business as usual at DBB: the stronger, the better...

0.75 l bottle from 'Bergmann Stehbierhalle Drive-In', bottled yesterday. Hazy, deep reddish amber with a medium large, frothy, stable, off-white head. Sweetish-malty, slightly fruity-floral aroma of caramel, lemon peel and a touch of honey. Gently sweet, malty, minimally bitter, slightly fruity-floral taste of caramel, lemon peel, some honey and traces of grains, followed by a short, moderately bitter, a little grassy-spicy finish. Medium to full body, smooth, slightly creamy and gently effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Highly quaffable and extremely pleasant beer with a gently hoppy touch, typically Bergmann.

Tap (Bier des Monats Januar 2020): As black as ink, presumably hazy, slowly collapsing yellowish head, dryish and nutty bitter-sweet toasty-roasty aroma with caramelly and delicate fruity traces; moderate - quite dry - bitter and mildly sweet flavour, a bit fizzy - nevertheless medium-bodied; lingering bitter-sweet finish of toasted malt and bitter chocolate. Well crafted, one of the best DBB brews...

Kerniger, getreidig malziger Beginn, süßlich herb, harmonisch. Würzig herber Mittelteil, mild aber erkennbar hopfig, hohe Süffigkeit. Langer, cremig malziger Abgang. Gut! 11/12/12/11//12

10/11/10/11//11

Vom Faß (11/19, @Stehbierhalle): Hazy, deep chestnut-amber coloured, quickly collapsing creamy off-white head, moderate to solid - quite complex - sweet-bitter aroma of dried fruits, toasted malt and traces of caramel, combined with leathery spots and a distinctive - almost english - hoppy background; moderate to solid sweet-bitter flavour, medium to full bodied, pretty soft; lingering bitter-sweet fruity-caramelly finish, followed by a balancing hoppy aftertaste. Very decent stuff. DBB as usual, the stronger the better...
