Description
Grimm Artisanal Ales is a Brooklyn-based brewery founded in 2013 by Joe and Lauren Grimm after nearly a decade of tinkering with fermentation. Grimm specializes in concise, elegant ales epitomizing the creative, experimental spirit of the American artisanal beer revolution. With each limited edition release, we seek to push the boundaries of style and flavor in order to create beers with the utmost depth and complexity.
For five years, Grimm operated as a nomadic brewery. Joe and Lauren would develop each recipe in the kitchen of their Gowanus apartment and travel to existing breweries near and far to craft their commercial beers.

Wine glass at Astoria Bier & Cheese. Complimentary beernuts!
Soft, white, flaky head. Patchy lace. Orange, thick, honey-ish appearance.
Smell is drier then expected. Leafy. Candle wax. Florals. Faint citrus. Fresh.
Taste is wheaty & floral, with a nice bittersweet rind. Mellow lime note. Cooked honey sweetness. Clovey, yeasty finish.
Dusty, calcified, witbier-like texture. Soft carbonation, would of liked more. Warming.
Better then my review made it sound. Drinks like a wit. Not as awesome as Dupont’s Biere de Miel, but pretty solid for some gypsies. :)

The Sampler, Brooklyn tap: Had this on the official release party. Anyway, it pours a reddish, clear colour with a white head. Aroma is yeasty, fruity, with some light rye notes. Taste is slightly sweet, with nice little hop notes. The finish was a little meh on my first sips, but really nothing bad about it. Bubbly and easy to drink.

A hazed blonde ale with a thick lacing frothy white head. In aroma, sweet honey frankincense, curacao, like a wit. In mouth, a sweet fruity malt with honey, banana, cloves, curacao, light alcohol, well done. On tap at Brooklyn Pour 2013.

Draft. Hazy pale yellow color, large white head, solid lacing. Aroma of honey, straw, raw white bread dough. Taste is doughy straw, more complex and less sweet than most tripels.

The Sampler, Brooklyn tap: Pours slightly cloudy orange with a white head. Aroma is funky yeast, rose hips, floral perfumy notes, maybe a bit of light fruitiness. Taste is honey sweetness, but not too much of it. Kind of spicy. Yeast and rose hips balance well. It kind of reminds me a little of a saison more than a straight Belgian ale.
