This will be my last RateBeer rating, as the site will be closing down on February 1st, 2025. 16 ounce can from Tavour. Clear dark amber color. Frothy beige head settles to a small cap. Earthy rye grain aroma. Tangy malt flavor. Notes of caramel and sultanas. Some residual sweetness. Dry, spicy finish. Thanks for the memories, RateBeer. I’ll miss you.

Appearances are a thick long-lasting cream colored head on top of a muddy medium to dark amber liquid. Aromas are in order, pine resin, citrus, malt and a little MJ. Old school hops. Flavors are similar to nose, with great balance between bitter, sweet and carbonation. Full bodied and good drinking. Slightly sweet finish with a touch of bitter. I could drink more. Quite a bit different than the previous version.

Pint can pours with a clear gold colored body that supports a white head of foam. The aroma offers up tangerine, tangelo, sweet rip pineapple and then soft mango and cantaloupe into the finish. The taste delivers juicy sweet tropical notes of peach, pineapple, cantaloupe and mango along with modest levels of tangy to slightly bitter tangelo, grapefruit and tangerine. It remains fairly balanced and the booziness helps a bit to keep this from getting too sweet. It is a little too sweet; but it could be far worse.

750mL bottle at LC member party, 1/17/25.
Dark brown. Clear, some head.
Nose is oak. Really strong oak tannin with a hint of bourbon heat and just wood, wood, and more wood. Caramel and dark chocolate behind it fail to balance.
Just a mouthful of wood. Wtf?? This is strange as hell. Tannic, with some dark chocolate. Drier, not quite syrupy. Dominated by raw wood/oak. No thanks!

500 mL bottle at LC member party, 1/17/25.
Dark, thick, clear. Little/no head.
True to the previous release, it's a monster, even at a full 4% less alcohol. Barrel-heavy, barrel-forward, and in my opinion, barrel-dominant. I get wanting to showcase such a beautiful bourbon, but it's just too much and overcomes all the beer's other character. Maybe it will age better, as a result, preserving the barrel character longer. But as it is now, it's just all oak, bourbon spice and warming whiskey. Typical rich, syrupy but properly attenuated texture.

Big boozy Bourbon notes here, lots of barrel. Chocolate, touch of coconut. Smooth, but the booze on the back is too much as it warms

Poured from the tap @ MBCC 2023 red session (finally adding my notes). Dark brown. Charred oak, mild chocolate, not detecting coconut here, decent.
