Vale Brewery
Microbrewery
in Brill,
Buckinghamshire,
England 🏴
Associated Venue: Vale Brewery
Established in 1995
Four years later in 1999, our current Head Brewer Dave Renton joined the team, putting his signature stamp and seal of approval on every Vale beer in the 23 years since.
With a host of awards following in quick succession, we expanded out of our Haddenham home, settling in the hill-top village of Brill, known for being JRR Tolkien's inspiration for the village of Bree in The Lord of the Rings.
In 2021, brothers Joe & Jimmy Brouder purchased the brewery from founders Phil & Mark Stevens.
With a new chapter beginning at Vale, our priorities remain the same: to make wonderful ales each and every time, nothing else.

50cl bottle. Slightly hazy amber with a thin white head; the aroma has dusty hops and citrus; light, fruity flavour; with some toffee to finish.

Cask, handpump at The James Figg, Thame, Oxon 16.12.10 Pours dark chestnut with off-white head. A touch thin in the mouth, medium bitterness, touch of caramel, don’t get the spice, in fact it’s a fairly run of the mill beer for Vale. Ok A6 A3 T6 P3 Ov12 3.0

From cask at Counting House. Pours clear and golden deep brown with a creamy tan head. Aroma is roasted malty, slight breadish. Rather bitter and subdued roasted malty. Dry and bitter into the finish. Rather simple.

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms, Bristol 7/11/10. Reddish amber with a decent, off-white head. Biscuit malts, a touch of fruit and long, bitter finish. Ok, if a bit one dimensional.

Cask, handpump at The Hop Pole, Aylesbury, Bucks 08.11.10 This was a stunner both in looks and in the taste department. Pours gold and was in simply sparkling nick with a medium white head atop. This has a wonderful bittersweet balance, lovely fresh clean hops, juicy as hell with a nice sweet malty undercurrent but the hops soon snap back. I’ve now had thirty nine beers from Vale over the years this is quite easily the best of them, nothing else has scored over 4.0 from me. Quality stuff indeed! A7 A5 T9 P4 Ov16 4.1
