In 1995 Vale was founded to bring beautiful ales packed full of flavour to the people of Buckinghamshire.

Four years later in 1999, our current Head Brewer Dave Renton joined the team, putting his signature stamp and seal of approval on every Vale beer in the 23 years since.

With a host of awards following in quick succession, we expanded out of our Haddenham home, settling in the hill-top village of Brill, known for being JRR Tolkien's inspiration for the village of Bree in The Lord of the Rings.

In 2021, brothers Joe & Jimmy Brouder purchased the brewery from founders Phil & Mark Stevens.

With a new chapter beginning at Vale, our priorities remain the same: to make wonderful ales each and every time, nothing else.

Cask @ Blackfriars. Clear dark golden colour, small white head. Aroma is fruity, hoppy, slightly malty. Flavour is hoppy, citrus, fruity, a bit malty. Refreshing and well drinkable.

cask at the nut tree with fin... nice amber ... thin white head ...odd soapy earthyness nose ...big fruity lime and grapefruit ... juicy ... light toffee linger ...

Cask, handpump at The Nut Tree, Murcott, Oxon, 14-03-10 Having missed only one monthly special so far from Vale (February 2010’s Inklings) I was pleased to get this one today. Pours amber with a filmy head, just a slight hint of haziness. The aroma I found to be more leafy than floral. Taste was really refreshing following our first bike ride for a few weeks, lightly bitter, but very drying at the end, nicely malty and quite a tasty beer, but never quite got the floral thing that the pumclip suggested. Bottle 500ml.Clear medium amber orange color with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, carame, nutty, fruity, light roasted. Flavor is moderate to light light sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20100101]

Cask at the Moon & Spoon (JDW), Slough. Gold with a dense cream head; citrus aroma; oily texture and a flavour dominated by the hops; sharply bitter grapefruit finish.

Cask at the Monks Retreat (JDW), Reading. Copper coloured with a dense cream head; aroma of sour autumn fruits; smooth and creamy texture; autumn fruit flavours with a touch of toffee sweetness to start, then tart grapefruit; the finish has some dry bisuity malts and lingering grapefruit. Very drinkable.

Cask, gravity at Merton Winter Beer Festival 05-02-10 Pours brown with a thin off-white head. Aroma quite fruity and there was also a tangible spicy element on the aroma. Taste a little rustic (which I like) possibly a bit too sweet for me, good solid malty backbone and the hops really show again towards the end, I just felt that it lacked a little zap and panache otherwise it was absolutely fine. Nice beer that was another popular beer amongst the locals. A7 A3 F7 P3 Ov14 3.4

Cask, handpump at The Nut Tree, Murcott, Oxon, 24-01-10 Pours light amber good clarity, with a white head. Aroma is pleasantly fruity, nothing complicated but nice tingle of hops also noted. Taste is fruity, clean with a nice drying finish, decent bitterness and good all round quaffabiity make this a very decent session beer. A7 A4 F7 P3 Ov14 3.5
