Bottle from Belhaven Fruit Farm. Not much aroma, but some floral and malt notes, taste very similar, not a lot going on. Touch of citrus. Finishes medium length. Not a bad session beer.

Cask at Woodin’s Shades, Nicholson’s, London. Pours clear, bright gold with a small, foamy white head. Dirty straw in the nose, some dry, crunchy white bread. Light sweet flavor with mellow straw bitterness, hints of dirt and grass, light lemon rind. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Faint resinous grass, straww and citrus fruit rind to finish, some dirt, light plastic, faint lemon tanginess. Simple little beer.

Bottle on the train from Edinburgh - 08/12/12. Lightly hazed dark amber with a thin off white head that retains well. Nose is light roast malt, caramel, toffee, hint of chocolate. Taste comprises lightly roasted malts, mineral tones, touch of coffee. Medium bodied with soft carbonation and some bitterness in the finish. Nice enough drop.

Aroma: Toffee, grassy and grain.
Appearance: Clear amber body with rose highlights. Small off-white head that fades very quickly. Average carbonation. Very light lacing.
Taste: Mild caramel flavour with herbal and citrus hints. The flavour isn’t very strong.
Palate: Thin body with watery texture. Soft carbonation.
Overall: Not great - pretty dull flavours and very thin.

Aroma: Coffee, dark chocolate, Coco Pops, cherries, wood and grain.
Appearance: Hazy mahogany body with a medium beige head that holds quite well. Light lacing.
Taste: Roast malt with plum and blackcurrant notes. Subtle dark chocolate flavour. Lovely, lingering bitter finish.
Palate: Thin to medium body with a slightly sticky mouthfeel. Soft carbonation.
Overall: Despite the chocolatey aroma, the taste has fruitier quality. The aroma is very complex. It might not be my favourite beer style, but this is one of the best Bitters I’ve tasted.

From cask at Rose Brewery. Pours clear and golden orange with a small white and creamy head. Aroma is roasted mal, light caramelish. Bitter, toasted malty and light sweet caramelish. Bitter and toasted finish.

Rerate - beautiful colour. Enjoyed the red fruit notes even if it was a touch gnarly. Previous rating 11/08/12 = 3. 50cl bottle from the brewery. Pours dark honey to mahogany with a thin layer of lace. The nose has some toffee, lots of grain notes. The taste has malt, hint of spice (maybe cinnamon or ginger) with a dry grassy/hay finish. The palate is medium in structure and texture with a fairly refreshing finish. Overall, a well executed beer but based upon a very simple uninspiring recipe.
