Description
Welcome to Healeys! We mix apples and imagination to make delicious food and drink. Deep in the heart of the Cornish countryside, we’re a family-run farm that’s been lovingly making award-winning cyders, wines, spirits, juices, preserves, and sauces for nearly 40 years. Since planting our first trees in 1986, we've grown to become the largest independent cyder-maker in Cornwall and the first distillery for 300 years. Family owned and Cornish born and bred. Whether it’s getting to the core of great flavour or thinking outside the box, we know what it takes to make apples special. And we love welcoming visitors to the farm to discover our Healeys charm themselves.

Keg @ Lugger Inn, Polruan. Pale dishwater yellow. Quite sweet with its apple with an artificialness in this respect. Easy enough to sup though.

500ml bottle from Healey’s Cider Farm. Pours clear gold, sparkling, with sweet commercial cider apple aroma. Taste follows with an accessible, clean-drinking cider character, designed to be supped by the pint. Fairly similar in taste to Thatcher’s Gold. Harmless enough I guess.

Clearish bright red colour, no head. Aroma is mostly apple, doesn’t seem to be many berries in this. Taste is also mostly the apple with some berries after, medium sweet, a bit artificial. Light body, moderate carbonation. Meh, even for a fruit cider this is unremarkable.

Box @ Moon Under Water, Manchester. Pale dishwater yellow-green. Has a decent apple nose, but very dry in its taste with a lesser than expected flavour for it.

Bottle at Healey’s Cornish Cyder Farm. Dark amber. Brown sugar and oak flavours dominate, with only a slight dryness in the finish really hinting at the cider behind it all. Still on the sweet side though. A nice drink, but not up to the Cornish Whisky and American Bourbon editions I’d tried just before. And like the others in the series, certainly not worth the £15 it would cost to buy rather than try.

Bottle at Healey’s Cornish Cyder Farm. Dark amber. There’s autumn fruits, oak, a little cough mixture and a slight sourness. A very interesting cider, and certainly the most flavoursome of the Healeys special editions that I tried, yet still not worth the £15 per bottle it would have cost me to buy instead of try.
