Description
Welcome to Healeys! We mix apples and imagination to make delicious food and drink. Deep in the heart of the Cornish countryside, we’re a family-run farm that’s been lovingly making award-winning cyders, wines, spirits, juices, preserves, and sauces for nearly 40 years. Since planting our first trees in 1986, we've grown to become the largest independent cyder-maker in Cornwall and the first distillery for 300 years. Family owned and Cornish born and bred. Whether it’s getting to the core of great flavour or thinking outside the box, we know what it takes to make apples special. And we love welcoming visitors to the farm to discover our Healeys charm themselves.

Bottle at Healey’s Cornish Cyder Farm. Deep gold. Fresh, lively flavours of apple, honey and lemon. Bit of a summer meadow feel to it. Little evidence of barrel ageing or whisky in it but it’s a nice cider all the same. But not £22 nice, which was the ridiculous sum they were attempting to extort per bottle (fortunately they let me sample it on site for free! ).

250ml bottle as a gift from my sister. Opened due to being sick of looking at it on my beer shelf. Tastes and looks like Irn Bru that’s been left outside for 5 days.

500ml bottle. Yellow gold colour, foam white head that dissipates away and fruity apple aroma. Taste is tangy apple, apple skins, sweetish. Light bodied, medium carbonation, dry finish with some residual sweetness. Quite OK.

Bottle at the ChrisO Snow Tasting, London - thanks to Chris, most likely. Pours perfectly clear gold with a few bubbles for a head. Sugary bruised apples in the nose. Big sweet flavor with sugary apple candies, caramel, doughy bread. Light bodied with average to high carbonation. Sweet finish, lightly syrupy, with lots of ripe apples. Not great.

A crisp, very pale ale cider that is almost clear. Has the standard apple aroma but a mild flavour.

Bottle at a ChrisO tasting - London. Pours clear with almost no colour, but if I had to choose I’d say it’s pale yellow. And no head. Woof, this dog has a rather uninviting nose, all sugary, dank and sweaty pear. Flavor is tangy-sugary pear - and not in a nice way. Light bodied with fizzy carbonation. Sugary finish rife with artificial pear - and sweaty man. Poor. A perry only a hard-drinkin’ perry tramp could love.

Bottle at Chriso Snow Tasting, thanks to Chris I think, 20/01/13. Lightly hazed orange amber, thin white bubbles clear to the edge. Nose is apple, smoked fruits, sugars, farmy earthy tones. Taste comprises sweet dry apples, light smokeiness, farmy. Medium body, dry in the finish. Ok.
