Bottled. Clear straw colour, rich head. Buttery papery malt aroma. Sweet and medium bodied with rounded mouthfeel. A bit cardboardy, low on hops. Low bitterness. Quite simple.

The bottle looks good, the beer in the glass also. Quite dark, nice head. The beer tastes very washy, only the finish is modest malty, a bit smoky. An average dunkel!

(6/21/08) Draught at Thüringer Hof in Leipzig. Black yet not opaque with a medium beige head. Interesting aroma of some smoke, roasted malt, grains and faint hints of coffee. Sweet flavor of malt, caramel, coffee hints and nice roastiness. Finishes slightly drier with some burnt malt. Medium-bodied. I like this one.

Bottled. Clear golden, rich airy head. Neutral nose. Spicy grassy hoppy nose. Dry, rounded and grainy. Some doughy malt covered in rich amounts of grassy hops. Long really bitter finish. A good pils!

(bottle) Cloudy, murky brown colour with a massive and slightly tanned foamy head, leaving lace-work. Sweet and yeasty-fruity (blackcurrant, prunes, banana) aroma with wheat- and dark malt, chocolate and light clovy spice. Sweet and slightly sourish flavour, light bodied with a moderate carbonation. Wheaty and shy toasty taste with berries and banana; sweet and banana-fruity finish. A tad too sweet for my liking (24.07.08).

From tap at Rixdorf brewpub, sold as Rixdorfer Hefeweizen, yet served in a Julius Echter glass - rebadged beer according to the owner. Pours hazy orange/yellow with a lacing white head. Dry estery and fruity aroma. Flavouris dry estery with a mild banana note and a more subdued orange fruity note. Ends dry an wheaty. Classic wheatbeer (not my style).

The bottle looks not so good. The beer in the glass is the first moment really good - very zippy, fine foam. But the foam disappears very fast, a little rest remains on the beer, bah! Chemical aroma. Tastes sourish and dry, moldy finish. Not a good pils!

500 ml purchased at Specs Liquor in Houston, TX. Best before Oct 20, 2008. Pour is almost all white head, eventually settiling back to reveal a cloudy yellow white beer with tiny carbonation bubbles. Head retention was pretty amazing on this beer. Aroma of cloves, flowers and bananas. Also some burning earthiness below. Taste is wheaty, grainy and some cloves. The banana is there, but it is part of many fruits, some citrus, some sweet. Palate is a bit towards the watery, though makes this quite drinkable. Nice example of the style.

Bottle: chestnut-amber coloured, smaller, quite quickly diminshing beige head; sweet dark-fruity nose (raisins); solid sweet, slightly bitter flavour, medium to full bodied; nuts or almonds in the drier sweet-bitter finish; becomes a bit more hoppy in the aftertaste. a well drikable and well balanced Doppelbock.......

Big off-white head. Muddy water color to it. Banana in the aroma, along with some spices. Bananas in the taste. Medium body. Really smooth. Sour finish. Some sweetness. Noticed a little bit of caramel. Pretty nice brew.
