[Cask at the Alehouse, Reading.] A bright straw coloured pour with a loose white head; citrus aroma; taste of lemon and grapefruit with a gentle citrus bitterness; and a crisp finish. A pleasant pale ale.

Handpull cask from the Kings Head, Leicester. Light gold, a little bit of haze and a scummy white head. Aroma of white grapefruit rind, light earthy character, some vanilla. Bittersweet taste with an intense juicy grapefruit finish. Light body with little carbonation. Pretty good stuff.

Cask at Shrewsbury Arms, Stafford. Pours a very dark reddish-brown with a small tan head and good lacing. Roast malts to the fore in the aroma, plus hints of dark and vinuous fruits. In the mouth it starts off sweet but some sourness of alcoholic strength quickly becomes evident. Roast malts and dark fruits again in the flavour, plus plums and figs, leading to a dry and somewhat boozy finish. This is a decent port stout.
