Bottle from Astor. Duvel tulip. Big, spirited head & crash. Creamy orange amber body. Letting it air out a bit. Farmhouse turns to a more pleasant bitterness like qince. Twiggy, grape skin, dust. Taste is moisture-sapping, stone-y, bitter, light bubblegum on the second yeasty pour. Super frothy. Old fruit. Really great.

Bottle from a local wine shop. $10 a 350ml. Came into the NYC market last year some time. Always up for more Cyril Zangs. Very cute superman-esque drawn label. Pint glass pour. Clear, dark golden honey brew. Lingering ring of lace. Smells of macerated bittersweet apples, bitter dry herbs, pepper, light inviting funk. Light acetone as it warms. Why are you stalling? Tart & quite minerally. Macerated sweet apple flavor. Dry grass. Moderate background acidity, but more-so super pithy & drying. Barely an essence of funk. Residual yeast of course. Very crispy natural carbonation. Really surprised by how unusually tart & refreshing this French cider is, combined with the classy farmy browned flavors. Big sulfite headache, but power through. Want more of this in a more affordable 750ml.

750ml bottle from Pilango online. Orange golden colour, large fizzy white foamy head that quickly dissipates away and aroma of apple, woody. Taste is tangy, apple, some apple skin & core, hints of caramel, bittersweet, woody with drying tannins. Light to medium bodied, spritzy carbonation, dry tannic finish. Nicely drinkable.

Bottomless magnum from Chambers St. Wines. Duvel tulip. Mostly clear except for a little haze. Looks like iced tea if you ignore the fizz. Smell is of earthy wet leaves, calcium & macerated bittersweet apples. Dry, murky, browned apples, tannic skin, tea astringency, moderate barnyard/wild fermentation funk, leaning more earthy & flat. Low acid, buried sharpness, & a slightly coarse body, with lingering dryness despite it’s juicy quality. A faint tartness rings now & again to keep things moving. Really enjoyable. Admittedly, I could not finish the whole bottle, as most of us already had more then a few by then. Good times overshadowing the just okay food being the usual culprit.

Hazy amber with foamy white head. Aroma is cinnamon, apple, cream, raisins, typical apfelstrudel, slight sulfur. Salted olives. Taste is astringent tannins, slight sweet, mostly bitter. Chalky finish. Ok. I cannot appreciate all this chalky and tanninic stuff.

Bottle. Clear golden color with white head. Aroma is apple skin, red apples, funky barnyard, custard. Taste is apple skin, funky, rustic, dry, a touch mealy, tannic, manure. Oily mouthfeel with sparkly carbonation. Fantastic Cidre, it is very rustic and sweet and well-balanced at the same time, and still very dry.

Bottle. Light hazy dark golden, offwhite foam. Nice appleskin and orangepeel nose, light mineral and almond. Very dry tart body, light barrel/tannic Almond base, light plums, salty, tart apple, barn, pancake dough, almond cake with apple mush finish. Nice!

Bouteille 1,5L, bottle share. Couleur dorée légèrement voilée, mousse blanche fuyante. Arôme de pomme fraiche, très fermier. Goût de pomme fraiche, bonne acidité, pelure de pomme. Carbonatation faible, corps moyen.
