Description
The brewery is located in Malý Rohozec, near Turnov, less than a hundred kilometers northeast of Prague. The local romantic region, located on the middle course of the Jizera River, has been called the Bohemian Paradise since the 19th century. It is a region of natural beauty, castles, chateaux, museums and traditional crafts. And also good people, and these people produce good beer for you in the traditional way: Beer of the Paradise. Not only the locals, but also visitors to the Bohemian Paradise, tourists, climbers and other nature lovers, SKALÁK beer and the sandstone rock town in the Hruboskalsko region are connected. . The beautiful, picturesque nature and pleasant, fresh taste of Skalák and Podskalák simply belong together.

After the end of communism and the split of Czechoslovakia, the brewery came into private hands in 1994 who however without the know-how for running a brewery. This resulted in bankruptcy in 2002, the brewery was very outdated and the debt burden very high and yet it was taken over. The production process was examined and everything was renewed, resulting in a high quality of brewed beer.

(bottle) Clear and deep golden colour with a firm medium white foamy head. Floral hoppy nose with a touch of citrus fruits and cake dough. Bread-malty flavour and taste, medium body, lively carbonation, fruity and hopbitter finish. A well-balanced, crisp and clean Pilsener.

Bottle (bought at the brewery): Deep golden coloured, medium-sized fluffy head, quickly diminishing; some variations on the the malty theme in the nose: honey, caramel, cookies, only light hoppiness from far behind, too; slightly sweetish beginning; light bitter-sweet flavour; soft bitter-sweet finish; decent brew, well rounded, well drinkable.

On draught at the BreweryTap in Maly Rohozec: Deep golden coloured, thin firm white foam, nicely lacing; fine floral hops in the aroma, some cookies too; malty/bready taste with some distinctive bitterness; light but lasting bitter-malty finish; pleasant and moreish!

Wonderfully complex Czechish pilsener. Low in alcohol, but rich in character. Rather light bodied, big buttery saaz hop aroma.
