Bottled (BB 11/2007)
Amber color, decent creamy off-white head. Stale, grassy, buttery nose. Some notes of wood (oak) too and a bit of unbalanced metallic hints. Sweetish, grassy-woody hoppy flavor - quite typical strong Bohemian pils as well it has typical buttery notes of the style. These a bit high alcohol Czech pils are usually too sweet and a bit unbalanced, this is no exception. Grassy aftertaste with hints of rubber.

Draught at Soldaten Svejk, Stockholm. Almost black, firm beige head. Arome of spun sugar. Sweet and lightly roasty with some dextrose. Full bodied as far as Czech beers go and with rounded mouthfeel. Short finish with more sugar. I have not been convinced withe the beers from one of my former favourite breweries since they changed their name from Korbel. --- Beer aliased from original tick of Skalák Světlý Speciál 13° on 26 Mar 2002 at 08:10 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 8 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 7.5. Original review text: Dark golden. Oily saaz aroma, hint of green apples. Reasonably dry but with sweetish very bitter finish. Medium bodied. A complex and tasty strongish lager.

Bottle (purchased at the brewery):Golden coloured with a small fluffy and stable white head; distinctive aromatic hoppiness in the pale malty nose; moderate bitter-sweet flavour, light bodied to watery - 10° !; quite spicy, hoppy-bitter finish with some light, sweetish maltiness in the aftertaste. A pleasant czech beer, if You consider that it is a 10°, it is excellent.........!

[Draught at Soldaten Svejk, Stockholm as Skalák Premium] Deep golden, rocky head. Papery aroma with some apples thrown in. Medium sweet with pleasantly soft mouthfeel. Swimming in sugary water there is a whiff of butterscotch. Near no bitterness. Not at all what I was expecting, much less hoping for.
