The brewery is located in Malý Rohozec, near Turnov, less than a hundred kilometers northeast of Prague. The local romantic region, located on the middle course of the Jizera River, has been called the Bohemian Paradise since the 19th century. It is a region of natural beauty, castles, chateaux, museums and traditional crafts. And also good people, and these people produce good beer for you in the traditional way: Beer of the Paradise. Not only the locals, but also visitors to the Bohemian Paradise, tourists, climbers and other nature lovers, SKALÁK beer and the sandstone rock town in the Hruboskalsko region are connected. . After the end of communism and the split of Czechoslovakia, the brewery came into private hands in 1994 who however without the know-how for running a brewery. Bottled (BB 12/2008)
Light clear amber color, small white head. Buttery, woody-hoppy aroma with some fruityness, like from apples. Flat mouthfeel. Sweetish malty, apple-like flavor. Somewhat cellary, almost like drinking French biere de garde. Light hoppyness, more in the aftertaste. Not the most typical Czech pils, flat sweetness made me wonder if my bottle was normal (although it tasted ok), but omhper’s rating was somewhat similar.

Muffig hopfiger Antrunk, etwas säuerlich werdend, etwas malzig. Etwas wässrig, bitter, weiter wässriger werdend. Nun erscheint ein leicht röstiger Ton mit einer künstlich wirkenden Fruchtigkeit. Etwas süß, komisch. Nicht unbedingt mein Fall.. Test vom 17.3.2008, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 9,6,5,7,7,6 - 6,35

Bottled. Clear deep golden colour with mediumsized white head, which leaves nice lace. Aroma is butterscotch, grass, some hay along with some mild herbal tones. Flavour is bigtime grass, herbs lurking in the background along with sweet malts and some earthy hops.

The bottle looks not bad, but that’s a matter of taste. In the glass a little bit turbid. Flavor spicy, finish a little bit sourish. Good beer.

Bottle: Clear, reddish-amber coloured, mid-sized, slowly collapsing yellowish fluffy head, moderate caramelly nose, a bit toasted, underpinned by spicy aromatic hops; moderate sweet-bitter flavour, light to medium bodied; drier, almost with traces of chocolate, malty and disctreet hoppy finish. Dobre pivo, bohužel nemužu souhlasit s motelpogem............ Re-rate 08/11: Very well drinkable, moreish......

Bitteres Pils! Test vom 24.10.2007, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 10,8,8,9,10,8 - 8,45

Bottle, thanks Pivnizub. Hazy amber, bearling carbonation, creamy off-white head. Honeyish and light berrylike aroma. Light body, hayish base - metallic herbal hops, light berry notes. Fresh, not too exiting. I am deducting points for the silly label.

Bottled. Dark reddish brown colour with mediumsized beige creamy head. Lacing. Aroma is strong of roasted and caramel malts along with raisins, some fudge and licorace.Flavour is roasted malts, sweet dark dry fruits, but gets very papery in the finish. Roastiness and some dark dryu fruity hints stays for quite a bit in the aftertaste.
