Description
The brewery is located in Malý Rohozec, near Turnov, less than a hundred kilometers northeast of Prague. The local romantic region, located on the middle course of the Jizera River, has been called the Bohemian Paradise since the 19th century. It is a region of natural beauty, castles, chateaux, museums and traditional crafts. And also good people, and these people produce good beer for you in the traditional way: Beer of the Paradise. Not only the locals, but also visitors to the Bohemian Paradise, tourists, climbers and other nature lovers, SKALÁK beer and the sandstone rock town in the Hruboskalsko region are connected. The beautiful, picturesque nature and pleasant, fresh taste of Skalák and Podskalák simply belong together.

After the end of communism and the split of Czechoslovakia, the brewery came into private hands in 1994 who however without the know-how for running a brewery. This resulted in bankruptcy in 2002, the brewery was very outdated and the debt burden very high and yet it was taken over. The production process was examined and everything was renewed, resulting in a high quality of brewed beer.

(Draught at Monk’s Café, Sveavägen, Stockholm) Golden colour with frothy, white head. Malty nose with hay, grassy hops and a touch of lemon. Malty, clean taste with notes of bread, hay and grassy hops. Dry and bitter finish. Medium body. Crisp and fresh beer with a dry, hoppy bitterness. Enjoyable.

50cl bottle, local store. Pours copper color with a thin white head. Aroma is quite hoppy, flavor has malt and caramel, slighlty sweet. Drinkable, but not that special, probably won´t try it again.

Bottled@Monks Café, Sveavägen, Stockholm. Golden colour, small white foamy head. Aroma is sweet malts, abit grassy hops as well as some bready notes and cardboard. Flavour is the same, in a rather mild way. Quite watery palate (and also flavour is a bit "watery thin").

Bottle from the Albert Hypermarket in Chodov, Prague. Poured a golden body, medium-small white head that stayed there for a long while. Very light aroma, some maltiness I guess. The taste is relatively mild too, not much bitterness, just some vegetabley hop, salty notes, not much maltiness. Aaah... guess I’ll rerate this too one day.

Draft at Modrý Abbé. A golden beer with a lazing cream colored head. The aroma is sweet malty with lighter notes of caramel, hops, and minerals. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt and straw as well as light notes of diacethyl, leading to a lightly bitter finish.
