About
The tradition of brewing beer in the abbey buildings of the nunnery Göss was revived when in 1860 the brewer and entrepreneur Max Kober acquired parts of the monastery and reactivated the brewery. This important year for Gösser is still noted on the labels today. With the founding of an AG in 1893, Max Kober laid the foundation stone for the development into one of the most important breweries in Austria.

In 1977 Gösser joined the Steirerbrau group, which merged into rivalling Brau-Beteiligungs-AG (BBAG) in 1991. From 1993 both companies operated under Brau Union Austria. In 2003, Gösser with Brau Union was taken over by Heineken.

Pale gold with a hazy. Big lemon and lime aroma. Taste is sweet with some mild, citric bitterness. Medium bodied, prickly carbonation. Refreshing but one-dimensional.

Pale colour, hazy, frothy head that stays for a while. Aroma is corn, some grassy hops. Light bitterness. Does not taste bad, reminds of an unfiltered lager.

500 ml from bottle. Cardboard, corn, grain, hay, a bit citrus. Dry bitterness, malty sweetness, slightly sour. Medium bodied, oily watery texture, lively carbonated, dry sweetish finish. Not great.
