Description
The tradition of brewing beer in the abbey buildings of the nunnery Göss was revived when in 1860 the brewer and entrepreneur Max Kober acquired parts of the monastery and reactivated the brewery. This important year for Gösser is still noted on the labels today. With the founding of an AG in 1893, Max Kober laid the foundation stone for the development into one of the most important breweries in Austria.

In 1977 Gösser joined the Steirerbrau group, which merged into rivalling Brau-Beteiligungs-AG (BBAG) in 1991. From 1993 both companies operated under Brau Union Austria. In 2003, Gösser with Brau Union was taken over by Heineken.

Bottle from Munich HBF. Tangy lemon, citric acid, malt, light hops. Decent beer flavor, sharp acidity that is a bit fake seeming but refreshing and easy drinking. Better than the Warsteiner. Slightly.

Can from Spar Gumpendorfer Straße, with Hrabren. Hazy golden body, thick white head, lasting. Floral, soapy, bit yeasty, malty aroma, minerally. Soft, flat floral-honeyish taste, lacking almost any semblance of bitterness, but there are herbal notes in the finish. Drinkable!
