Description
The brewing tradition in Helsinki is hundreds of years old. The latest chapter of this story began in 1995 on the island of Suomenlinna right outside of the city. It is here that a one man brewery was founded in the former jetty barracks. The brewery has grown to be home for a small group of dedicated professionals, all passionate about beer culture in Finland. Now Suomenlinna Brewery is one of the largest local breweries in town.

The rich history at this UNESCO world heritage site has been the inspiration for many new beers at Suomenlinna Brewery. Each beer and cider we brew has its own story to tell. When professional attitude and modern technology are combined, the end results are bold, honest, high quality drinks. Our special releases are a sign of our inspiration to create and to try new things.

Bottled. Deep brown colour with a mediumsized creamy beigeish brown head. Aroma is nutty, mild raisins, some syrupy notes as well as mild toasted notes. Flavour is nutty, syrupy, wooden and some slight raisins and bitterness. Nice lingering mellow roast comes through as well.

Draught@HBF2017. Red colour, small white head. Aroma is floral, fruity, some berries, mild nectar. Flavour is fruity, floral, some toffee and mild herbal notes.

Draught@Viisi Penniä, Helsinki. Golden colour, mediumsized foamy white head. Aroma is sweet bready malts along with some grassy and herbal notes. Flavour is sweet malts, mild buttery notes along with some slight yeast and grassy notes. Refreshing and nice Czech style beer.

Canned (5.5 %, from KCM Stenhaga, Vasa). Slightly hazy yellow colour, mediumsized white head. Aroma is floral, fruity, some toffee with mild wooden tones. Flavour is floral, toffeeish, some fruity and mild herbal tones. Quite mediocre pale ale.

Canned (from Alko Web). Hazy orange colour, small white head. Aroma is fruity, floral, herbal and some grassy tones. Flavour is toffee, spruce, some grassy and mild nectary tones. Plesantly bitter.
