Im Jahr 2010 war es soweit, Wetzlar hatte wieder ein eigenes Bier. Zum Gallusmarkt schenkten die Freunde von Herman e.V. in ihrem Vereinslokal in der Silhöfertorstraße die ersten Flaschen Wetzlarer Eselstoff aus, benannt nach Esel Herman, dem orangefarbenen Sympathieträger vom Schillerplatz. Inzwischen umbenannt in Wetzlarer ESEL und ergänzt durch ESEL | WEISS und ESEL | DUNKEL sind die Biere mit dem orangefarbenen Esel in vielen Geschäften, Restaurants und Kneipen in der Region gar nicht mehr wegzudenken...

33 cL bottle. Pours cloudy yellow, small white head. Aroma is grassy and slight herbal hoppy. Toasted malt, light dry and bitter far finish.

Bottle shared before Borefts Day 2. Clear pale golden color, small white head. Smell and taste lightly malts, nicely bitter, hayish. I quite like it.

Bottle shared before Borefts Day 2. Cloudy pale yellow color, small white head. Smell and taste wheat, yeast, banana-ish, sweet and floral. Not too bad.

Bottle. Hazy straw-yellow color with white head. Aroma is fresh yeast, grains, straw.Taste is the same. Quite neutral, but not disgusting.

Bottle. Murky straw-yellow color with white head. Aroma is bananas, spicy yeasts, wheat, milky yeasts, quite messy. Oily mouthfeel. Meh.

33cl swing top bottle. Milchig trübes goldgelbes Bier mit großen weißen schaumkrone. Geruch hefig, süß malzig, reife Früchte. Geschmack süß malzig, reife Früchte, hefig.

Verwässert herber Antrunk mit kerniger Getreidigkeit. Angenehm würzig, süffig, zum Ende leicht bitter. Die Aromen an sich sind angenehm, könnten aber alles in Allem stärker sein. Okay. 10/8/9/8/7/8

Hell hefig-getreidiger Antrunk, wässrig werdend. Geringe Würzigkeit, die Hefigkeit bleibt mild. Mittellanger Nachhall. Insgesamt eher monoton - ok. 12/8/9/8/7/8
