(Draft at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 16 Aug 2025) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with dark chocolate, sweet espresso and vanilla. Malty, roasted taste with notes of dark chocolate, coffee, vanilla, toffee, caramel and a mild roasty bitterness in a warming finish. Full body, sweet. On the sweet side, but really rich and tasty. Very nice.

Bottle at home. Opaque dark black color, small dark brown colored head. Aroma is (Dutch) "hopjesvla", yuk, hate it, some vanilla and light spices. Flavor is malts, sweetness, vanilla, again spices and "hopjesvla". Way too sweet and too much spices for me. Totally not my beer.

On tap. Pours black with moderate dark tan head. Aromas of chocolate fudge, chocolate icing, vanilla, and slick roasted malts. Flavors of chocolate nougat, graham wafers, dark sugars, vanilla and oily roasted malts. Maybe a touch of coconut in the finish. A very nice sipper and somewhat balanced for a pastry stout.

0.33 l bottle from 'SpeciaalBierPakket.nl', batch #1, bottled in December 2024. Almost clear, very dark ruby with a thin, dense, almost stable, beige head. Sweetish-malty, gently fruity and a bit boozy aroma of molasses, raisins, prunes and some brown sugar. Rather sweet, malty, moderately bitter, slightly boozy, gently fruity taste of molasses, chocolate, raisins, prunes and caramel, followed by a long, moderately bitter, gently boozy finish. Full body, smooth and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Nice one, quite outspoken, maybe a little sharp in the finish. Still a nice surprise!
