Description
In 1852 Ludwig Bauhöfer founded the brewery. He knew that the people in the region particularly appreciate quality and regional specialities when it comes to eating and drinking, and his beer soon became so popular that the small family business developed into one a modern brewery after only a few years.
Today we can look back on a long brewing tradition that has grown over generations. The popularity of Ulmer beers has not changed to this day and the specialties of the family brewery make new friends every day.

The bottle not too bad. The aroma very sweet. The flavor is not sweet, but strong and malty. Much too malty. Not a good beer.

Etwas herber Antrunk, leicht hopfig-würzig. Getreidig-hopfig im Mittelteil, mild süffig bleibend. Hopfig-herber Nachgeschmack. Nichts wirklich besonderes. Danke an Jevers Zeuge. Test vom 30.8.2007, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 6,8,9,9,9,9 - 8,55

Test vom 18.6.2007, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 7,11,11,11,8,11 - 10,45

Bottled, thanks jeverszeuge Roast red, rocky head. Deliciously roasty buttery malt aroma. Fairly sweet with chewy, caramelly bready malt and sme grassyhops on top of that. Mild and rounded, wraps my mouth in malt flavours. Medium bitterness.

Bottled, thanks jeverszeuge Clear golden, small head. Buttery malt aroma. Sweet with rounded mouthfeel. Some grassy, salty hops over grainy buttery malt. Dominated by sweet malt. Rather low bitterness. Not as good as their fantastic Winterbock.

(Bottle 50 cl) Orangey brown and typically Hefe-unclear. Handsome, lightly creamy head and a heavy carbonation. Unfortunately this doesn’t contain much aroma-wise - some vague wheaty notes atop a soft, sweetish body. And that’s about it. 180103

(Bottle 50 cl) Cloudy orangey golden with a tall and lively head. Very yeasty nose and an extremely soft and smooth mouthfeel. Lacks some of the more subtle fruitiness found in the best Hefes. 070103

(Bottle 33 cl) I’ve had "full moon beers" from Switzerland before, but I believe this is my first German of the kind. All ingredients are organic, and the philosophy is that beer brewed during full moon has certain qualities - don’t ask me which though
Dark amber with a small head. Lovely aromatic and full-bodied with a distinct, lightly burned malty note. Pronounced sweetness and only a discreet bitterness. 051102

(Bottle 33 cl) Pilsener golden with a small head. Incredibly potent and full-bodied beer with a distinct malty sweetness and ditto bitterness. Quite aromatic from some nice hops. Finishes a wee bit too alcoholic. 220602
